Immigrants’ organizations are using nontraditional methods to prepare for SB4

With just over a week left for the implementation of the Texas Senate Bill 4, immigrants rights’ organizations are using new ways to inform their communities about their rights and what to expect from the so called “show me your papers” law.

Signed by Texas Governor Gregg Abbott last May and going into effect on September 1, the SB-4 will allows law enforcement officials to ask people about their legal status if stopped or detained in any circumstance. It also penalizes local officers and enforcement agencies who refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities in turning over undocumented immigrants.
